The United States Navy Memorial's Navy Log is the nation's largest publicly available repository of Sea Service personnel. It was established as a tribute to those who have served and a permanent archive of their military service. Our goal is to create a lasting legacy of honor that reaches across generations and tells the story of our Sea Service veterans, preserving naval heritage for future generations to come.
Today, the Navy Log is proud to honor the many stories of service from the men and women that are remembered within its records. This archive features fascinating tales that span across the long history of this nation’s rich Sea Service traditions, and these perspectives and experiences offer a unique glimpse into the the exceptional position of the Sea Service at the heart of the American story.
In a new program, titled “Tales from the Navy Log,” the Navy Memorial will showcase some of the many stories contained within the Navy Log through an ongoing semi-regular blog. Each of these blog posts will feature a handful of stories from within the Navy Log. It is our hope that this series will encourage its readers to explore the Navy Log for themselves and discover some of the countless other Stories of Service that the Navy Log contains.
