Commemorate your ship, squadron, crew or a family member in the Sea Services.

Plaque Wall III.jpg

The United States Navy Memorial's Commemorative Plaque Program gives you the opportunity to create a permanent memorial. Sponsor a plaque dedicated to an individual, group, ship, squadron, command, battle, or event within the United States Sea Services, while supporting the mission of the Navy Memorial.

Each plaque is displayed online and in our Visitor Center, where they are viewed by thousands of veterans, families, friends, tourists, and school groups.

Each plaque is an archival, photo-engraved, matte finish aluminum plate measuring seven by three and three-quarters inches or fourteen and three-quarters square. It is created by our graphic designer in cooperation with the plaque's sponsor. Plaques can include pictures, text, group insignias, logos, and other graphical elements.

Can I Search for a Plaque Online?

Yes! The Navy Memorial Commemorative Plaque Wall is viewed by thousands of visitors each year, in-person & online. To browse or search for a plaque, click here.

Can I Purchase a Replica of my Plaque?

Once the process is complete, an exact replica of the plaque, mounted on a handsome wood backing suitable for display or hanging, is available as a retail item. Sponsors are also given electronic images of the plaque that can then be used commercially to recreate the plaque on newsletters, coffee cups, mugs, plates, reunion banners, or other suitable items.

 Dedication Ceremony

Each sponsor, upon completion of their group's Commemorative Plaque project, is entitled to a dedication ceremony in our theater.  During the ceremony, a member of the Memorial's leadership team will extend welcoming remarks to the sponsors of the plaque and invite attendees to share memories about the ship, squadron, or loved one being honored. Plaque dedications are frequently done in conjunction with a scheduled reunion in the greater Washington DC area.  These events are always very meaningful to participants.

A commemorative plaque is a wonderful way to honor, recognize and celebrate the men and women of the United States Sea Services, past, present and future.
