The Bronze Relief Digital Intern Project

Bronze Relief Digital Intern Project: Create a short documentary based on 1 of the Bronze Relief’s at the Navy Memorial. Each Bronze Relief recognizes a different Sea Service-related theme, milestone, individual, or a specific group. This project is to honor, recognize, and celebrate the men and women of the Sea Services, past, present, and future; and inform the public about their service.

Recognition: All applicants who complete the tasks and meet each requirement of this assignment will be eligible to be recognized by the Navy Memorial Education Program, sent a certificate of achievement, designated as a digital intern, and celebrated on the Navy Memorial Education website.

Task: Create a 3 minute or more video documentary focused on the 1 of the Bronze Relief’s found at the Navy Memorial. View all of the Bronze Relief’s by clicking here.

Parts:

  • Introduction of the Bronze Relief

  • Significance of the Bronze Relief

  • Description of the era/wars/events depicted in the relief

  • Conclusion- honoring, recognizing, celebrating, informing the public about the importance of the Bronze Relief

  • Work Cited

Production:

  • Utilize any video editing program

  • Student composed narration

  • Must include 3 or more primary and or secondary sources. (these may include pictures, video clips, archival footage of the topic, etc.)

  • Work cited using MLA format at the conclusion of the assignment indicating and accounting for all sources utilized. This includes but is not limited to, archival footage, pictures, background music, etc.

Documentaries may include:

  • Background music

  • A picture of the Bronze Relief you selected

  • Primary source information, media clips, pictures, speeches, etc.

  • Archival footage of the events

Life at sea can be difficult and rewarding. Each of the Sea Services has different ways to honor and recognize the achievements of individuals and groups who do extraordinary things. The Navy Memorial Education team has created learning competitions for grades K to 12 to participate in enrichment activities and be recognized for their efforts.

There are 3 different ways to participate. Students can participate in the Sea Service Project (Grades 5-12), Engagement Challenge (Grades K-12+), and Sea Service Video Challenge (Grades K-12).
