U.S. Navy Memorial Announces 2023 Lone Sailor Awards Dinner

The United States Navy Memorial announced the 2023 Lone Sailor Awards Dinner will take place at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, on Thursday, September 21. The Lone Sailor Awards Dinner is held annually to celebrate the U.S. Navy Memorial's newest Lone Sailor and Naval Heritage Award recipients.

The Lone Sailor Award is given to Sea Service veterans who have excelled with distinction in their respective careers during or after their service. The award recipients will join an impressive list of men and women who have distinguished themselves by drawing upon their military experience to become successful in their subsequent careers and lives, while exemplifying the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.

The Naval Heritage Award is given to Americans who have excelled with distinction in their respective careers, distinguished themselves with their significant support of the nation’s Sea Services, and whose lives and careers exemplify the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.

The 2022 Lone Sailor Awards Dinner, held this past September, was inspired by the collaboration and cohesiveness of the Sea Services and focused on the tremendous power of connection. More than 450 people attended, including the honorees and their families, veterans, Sea Service leaders, Flag Officers, and business executives.

Additionally, a special Lone Sailor Medallion was presented to USAA CEO, Wayne Peacock for the association’s ongoing commitment to the U.S. Navy Memorial’s mission to Honor, Recognize, and Celebrate the men and women of the Sea Services, past, present, and future; and to Inform the public about their service.

The 2023 dinner will build on the theme of past years with "inspiration" being a new focal point. Three award recipients will be announced in the new year. The U.S. Navy Memorial is expecting another incredible turnout and is excited to not only celebrate these new honorees but also share their tremendous accomplishments with an even broader audience.
